NIELIT ( National Institute of Electronics and information technology)

CCC ( COURSE ON COMPUTER CONCEPT)  : CCC-for-govt-job
BCC (BASIC COMPUTER COURSE)

Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today responds to President’s speech in parliament. In his speech PM clearly said that distance and online education is essential for strong India . He said that india is the youngest country in the world and have 65 percent population under the 35 years of age. There is great need of education and training and we can achieve through distance education.

In his speech Modi said, “ there may not be good teachers in the villages but technology enables us to teach children in villages through satellite.” He said ,” We have many agricultural universities, and a lot of research is being done. But the sad thing is, what is there is the lab is not there on the land.

Emphasising its priority on training and technology Modi said ,” we need to concentrate on skill development. China is growing old, we are growing young.

He said India’s identity in the world right now is ‘Scam India’ we need to change it to ‘Skilled India’

Modi said One needs capability and talent to progress, only a certificate is not enough. The entire world needs workforce today. Can’t we export teachers and doctors? A businessmen will bring back dollars, a teacher will bring back an entire generation.

President too said while addressing a joint session of parliament,” My government will strive to transition from Youth Development to Youth-led Development. In his address, which enlisted the agenda of Narendra Modi Government for the next five years, Mukherjee said, “With the motto of “Har Haath Ko Hunar”, my government will strive to break the barriers between formal education and skill development, and put in place a mechanism to give academic equivalence to vocational qualifications. With the goal of Skilled India, my government will also launch a National Multi-skill Mission.

9_7_2012_17_47_731_bba_dis  In India, students generally do not devote much time to think and decide before taking admission in a course. Mostly, they go by the elimination method, that is, they eliminate the things they think they are not good at or those subjects that they hate. For many students, subjects like science, maths and humanities are all crossed off the list instantly. The reason given by the students for this elimination are mostly irrelevant to the decision making process. They feel they may not have time for fun if they take serious subjects or some careers do not lead to earning great money etc. As far as commerce stream in class 11th and class 12th goes, the priority lies in getting into a job quickly and earning a lot of money. Commerce students feel that they should take up such a course that can actually help them make a career easily. This is why BBA tops the list for many students.

It is a common knowledge that earning a bachelor’s degree is a pretty good career move and often the minimum requirement for getting a job. Although in many cases, this is correct, for many careers it is misleading. But planning does make sense and most students with robust planning get into the apt career path which ultimately leads to good prospects. Thus, it is essential to ask why one is taking the course and what career prospect it is leading to. And the key is to know the capacity or potential or aptitude one has which would help them to learn best and do well in the career they are taking. To become successful in any career, you require certain skills. Before joining the “best” institute, you need to check that you will be getting training for those specific skills for becoming a successful management graduate.

Most of the students get into commerce stream with no understanding of what it involves. However, if management is the ultimate goal, though both BBA as well as B.Com will lead to MBA, but one needs to give it a serious thought as to what subject to graduate in even if the ultimate goal is MBA.

It is true that both BBA as well as B.Com lead to MBA. However, while B.Com can lead to a wide array of post graduate specializations, a BBA degree on the other hand, can only lead to MBA.

But this does not mean that one should only go for B.Com and not BBA. The smart people take an aptitude test while in school, gather information about both the courses, plan their career path, and then take the decision confidently.

Why we call them smart, let’s discuss the nitty-gritty.

The Bachelor of Commerce is designed to enhance the ability to learn as the students study variety of subjects: Accountancy, Business Administration, Finance, Economics and Industrial Policies. This course equips one with the analytical, communication and problem-solving skills to effectively identify issues, source information and to find efficient and practical solutions.

After B.Com the students can avail exciting and diverse post graduate opportunities like MBA, LAW, International studies, Designing/Merchandising, MBE, M. Com, Finance, Economics etc which will set them apart from the crowd and prepare them for success in the global marketplace. The industry takes them at par with the students having professional degree like BBA, Hotel Management etc and sometimes at higher platform if someone is from reputed college. All most all universities and colleges in India offer B.Com degree, therefore, chances of getting into the course is higher.

Bachelor of Business Administration, on the other hand, is a professional course, and it is offered at few universities and of these, only a handful of colleges / institutes offer quality course. Choosing the right institute is key to landing up in a good job. The BBA course is tailored in consultation with representatives from leading organisations, ensuring that you graduate with an industry-relevant degree. Students get practical experience, read assigned materials, attend seminars, and prepare an internship report. Students are encouraged to attend leadership training workshops and conferences; including, but not limited to, public speaking, group dynamics, and problem solving, and evaluating techniques. These skills not only help to fetch a good job, but also, the students remain at an edge over others while studying MBA. However, all this happens only when the students get into a reputed college.

After BBA the students can get into Marketing, Human Resource, General Management, and Finance etc. This course, however, restricts the students from other postgraduate study opportunities.

If you are very sure that your aptitude matches to the management study only, your only goal is to get into management career, then BBA would be the best choice for you. If you wish to learn variety of skills as well as course during bachelor degree, wish to avail various post graduate opportunities besides MBA, interested in learning finance and factors that drive economic behavior at both an individual and organisational level, then B.Com would be a wise decision.

However, if you decide a career based solely on your “wish”, and on your “strengths”, then you increase the chances of leading a miserable and stressed life. Career decisions must always be made keeping in mind one’s aptitude, personality as well as interests. To know this clearly, one can take career tests or aptitude test and personality test and get career guidance from expert career counselors to build the right career path.

There are times in your career life span, when you feel that stagnation has set in, making you think whether what you chose was the best of career options at all. With your present career-path, you may sense zero scope for progress. Add to that, the drawling monotony of the job threatens to engulf you.  When you find yourself at the cross-roads of your career, feeling directionless, the thought of shifting to a new career altogether will appear as the best career option.

After much pondering and debate with yourself and peers, when you arrive at a crucial decision of switching to a new career path, a few tips inline will equip you for the changeover.

1. Decide on the job-sector:  With opportunities aplenty in the diverse job industry and numerous career options, it is imperative that you decide on the job sector you want to shift to.  As mentioned, the job-sector is diversified with multiple functional domains. So decide on the job-sector, and if vast, the functional domain, you want to specialize in.

2Research the prospects for growth in that job sector:  Before you explore alternate career options, you need to research on the growth prospects for that career-path. Whether, the job-sector will serve you in the long-run, and how stable and secure will it prove it be against all forms of crises.

3. Evaluate your skills for job-sector/domain:  Some functional domains of a job may just be a branch of your core specialization, whereas others may be totally new to your core skills.  So do the mapping right and identify the areas where you need to specialize.

4. Explore which study program to enrol for: Any career switch will demand acquiring of new skills. So do the ground work for the necessary skills- upgrade by exploring the different specializations associated with the job-sector or that particular functional domain.   In addition, make sure to assess whether the new specialization will give you a strong backing to start afresh with your new career option. Evaluate the study-options available with your program- whether regular online or distance education.

5. Choosing the best study-option:  Once you have decided on the course to study, you will have to gear up for the transition. Switching to a different career option, come with many implications- enrolling for a study program, maintaining job continuity, financial and personal commitments. Assess your priorities to work out the best option for you. Most working professionals eager for a career-change prefer to enrol for a distance/online learning program to maintain job-continuity, while acquiring new skills.

Making a pick of the lot of career options may sound confusing but with clear thinking and fixed goals, you can take the right lead to a new career path.

When you are geared up to face the first day at office or at a new organization, or  a meeting with a business-client, you are eager to put your best foot forward, and lay the first stepping stone towards career development. To accomplish this, you want to make the best first impression to build a great rapport, a long-term relationship with your working-partners. How can the first impression create a lasting imprint of career success?

Why is the first impression important for career development ?

If you remember your school days, every academic year, you would have faced the challenge of bonding with a new set of classmates, a new teacher and a new environment. Striving to give it your best in academics and other activities, your aim would have been to win the respect of your classmates and teachers. The first step in your new class was always oriented towards creating the best first impression through various channels. The first impression was always regarded as a “bank” to serve your long-term goals for the academic year -for recognition, merit or certificates of excellence.

Similarly at work, the first impression is like the foundation for a great work-life and progressive career development. It is the living image of your persona, potential and your person, you wish to convey to those you interact with, in the first instance.

You could reap the benefits of the first impression for: building rapport with your colleagues and showcasing your potential to the seniors.

5-tips for making the best first impression

As first impressions make lasting imprints, here are a few tips on how to create the best first impression on your first day at the workplace:

Pay attention to your dress sense: All your professionalism, sense of dignity is best “conveyed” through the kind of dress you choose to wear. So, dress appropriately for the occasion and make sure it is in-sync with the work-ethos.

Be a good listener, in-tune with the conversation: While group conversations take place, it pays to be a good listener before you start to talk. Remember, a good dialogue implies good communication and paves way for good rapport.

Initiate topics with reference to the situation: When you bump into a colleague for the first time(tea-time for instance), the best way to thaw the ice would be by relating to the existing situation. It could be anything ranging from the latest news impacting the organization or the recent developments in the economy, which might open up new prospects for career development. Such references strike instant engagement and draws in the attention of the person, with whom you are trying to relate with.

Be present: “Being present” does not point to any reference to attendance. The present here refers to presence of mind and being in the moment. When you are fully involved in the moment, your listening capacity increases, you participate actively, exhibit enthusiasm and are proactive, conveying to those around you that you are keen and focused- focus being one of the chief attributes for career development. Avoid the distractions, of mobile phones or other gadgets, which can ruin your first impression.

Let your body language be streamlined with your intent: If you are hard-driven about making the best impression and thereby lay the foundation for career development, you should be conscious about your body language. As a chief tool of non-verbal communication,  wrong body language can throw spanner in the works. For instance, if you are into active discussion about new implementations, and you are hearing out what the other team members have to say, show keen listening qualities by not slouching or keeping your hands on the forehead, which are indicative of lack of interest.

It boils down to the simple truth that first impressions can last till the last-lap of career-development at your work place. Before you take that leap forward into the new work place, look up these tips, to get-set-going in the right direction.

AICTE to allow technical education in distance mode from 2013

New Delhi, Dec 21, 2012, DHNS:

The All India Council for Technical Education is set to allow technical education in distance learning mode from 2013.

Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister M M Pallam Raju made an announcement to this effect here on Friday. “A move is on to bring distance education in the country under a proper regulatory frame work and the AICTE will come up with a set of guidelines to conduct technical education in this mode by March next year,” he said.

“A regulatory frame work is being worked out to allow technical education in distance education mode for the first time in the country from next year. Students will be able to pursue courses in all technical subjects, except architecture and pharmacy,” AICTE chairman S S Mantha said.

This apart, candidates will require a few years of professional experience in their respective fields to apply for the technical courses. A national-level test will be conducted for enrolment, he said. “We are finalising the details.”

“Students of distance education will not face any problem in getting jobs as their diplomas or degrees will have the same value as those acquired after undergoing courses in educational institutions,” a HRD Ministry official said.

Govt to allow engg study in distance mode

Charu Sudan Kasturi, Hindustan Times  New Delhi, December 21, 2012

Students who secured distance education degrees in engineering and then discovered that the programmes weren’t legal can relax.
The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to allow technical education, including engineering through the distance learning mode, as long as laboratory work is done in face-to-face sessions.

But there is a rider. Only students who have at least one diploma or degree through regular classroom learning can seek these distance technical education degrees. The relaxation will not apply to architecture and pharmacy courses, AICTE chairman SS Mantha said Friday.

The AICTE has received multiple petitions from students who earned distance engineering degrees but found these weren’t recognised while applying abroad for further studies.

“We want to regulate the sector, but we also want to take care of genuinely duped students,” Mantha said.

New agency for accreditation
The AICTE is setting up a new accreditation agency for technical education. The new body will be called the Indian Board of Accreditation (IBA) and will use the same standards as the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

“There’s a huge shortage of accreditation capacity and instead of adding more manpower to the NBA, we felt starting a new agency would be better,” AICTE adviser Renu Bapna told HT.

The UGC also aims to make accreditation mandatory.
